Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Citizens of this world, who also happen to be a part of the LGBT community - This is a letter from me to you!
I have lived in a fairly privileged world. I always believed in equality to rights whether it's about men or women, junior or senior, and to a very large extent I would say I exercised equality wherever I could - in my job, school, at my home, and wherever else.
This is a very serious problem today that most lesbian, gay, sexual, and transgender (LGBT) too often find that their experience is marred by bullying, discrimination, lack of access to LGBT-related information, and in some cases, physical or sexual assault and these abuses can cause deep and lasting harm.
To know that you struggle with accepting your own reality, not being sure how to "come out" to your friends and family, to eventually losing confidence in everything you do - is something that makes my heart bleed.
Always know that we’ll be here to listen, to advise, to support, to show you that there is beauty and goodness in the world and there are so many people in this world who love you and want you to be happy exactly as you are, even if it doesn’t seem that way. Know that you're not alone, you are not worth less than anyone else because of whom you love or whether the gender you were assigned doesn’t match your own.
If you find happiness in rainbows, go for it. go freak out. own your feelings. There are millions more like you, and you are never, ever alone.
I cannot make the world safer, but I can walk with you. So, let’s hold each other by the hand and keep glowing with PRIDE.
Happy Pride!🏳️🌈
